2C: Digital twins

Digital-twin systems are online digital representations of “some reality” which are generally used for control purposes. The digital representations can be used to monitor, alter, predict failures, and optimize real-world processes .

Examples of research topics are:

  • Modeling languages, abstractions and extension mechanisms

  • Static model

  • Dynamic models

  • Model activation

  • Synchronization with external world

  • Model management

  • Inconsistency management in case of deviations from reality

  • Model checking

  • Domain specific models for disaster and emergency kinds

  • Static and dynamic semantics

  • Simulation of models

  • Sharing models in distributed environments

  • Distributed protocols

  • Queries on models for disaster and emergency management

  • Model development and management environments

  • Simulation development and management environments

  • GIS integration and extension

  • Standardization
